Celebrate small successes

“Rome wasn’t built in a day. But I wasn’t on that particular job” – Brian Clough, English Football Manager
Rome certainly wasn’t built in a day. It took time, effort, careful execution and a collection of small successes.
Small successes build confidence, momentum and pace. Theses are essential when launching a business whether it be opening a restaurant, creating some software or setting up an accounting practice.
Don’t be bogged down trying to do everything at once and certainly don’t have a massive killer to-do list. This will just eat up time and confidence.
Start small. Aim for one goal a day and once it is completed, celebrate it. Tell the world. Share the success with your colleagues, family, friends, blog community and then start another. One step at a time.
Building up to our launch date of latteperday.com we are looking for more sign ups of people interested in hearing when we open our doors. After creating a good initial design, we targeted a load of CSS galleries to showcase our work. This was our goal for one day.
The next day we received around 2,000 visitors to our site and around 1% in sign ups. We are starting to build a group of people interested in hearing what we have to say and offer. Treat this as a small success. Move onto the next target and try something else the very next day. Everything is a small step closer to our launch date and getting things started.
There’s nothing more successful and powerful in sport than a team with a winning streak. Don’t put things off or be too proud to celebrate when you have achieved something. Completing it, however small, is a success. Feeling that you have achieved something will push you onto the next task and another step closer to the end goal.
Now move on and start the next thing.
